The Tracker Certification system created by CyberTracker Conservation is now the global standard for certifying trackers in the field. Anyone is welcome regardless of level of experience and it is a fantastic opportunity to test your skills while learning a huge amount in a fun and supportive environment!
Senior Tracker John Rhyder will be the evaluator. John has a vast wealth of tracking experience that he shares generously. Over the two days he will ask around 50 questions about different tracks and signs in the landscape. Participants just write down what they think they are seeing and then John reveals the answers frequently through the day. So even if you're not sure of the answer, you learn as you go along, and the questions you get right add to your score. Those scoring 69% and over will be awarded a certificate which is internationally recognised. And even for those not interested in certification, the evaluation itself can be treated like a workshop because you'll learn a lot in the process, and meet fellow trackers and naturalists!
Dan has a been a keen advocate of the system since it first arrived in the UK in 2012. He gained a Level 3 (95%) on this first evaluation (a long way from his home patch) and since achieved a Track & Sign Professional (100%) certificate. He also scored 99% on a Specialist evaluation in the Netherlands.
